myLinkCloud – Your personalized internet desktop
We would like to introduce you to our new service is called myLinkCloud. myLinkCloud is in Beta and was launched on Sep 20, 2012. Our free web service allows users to create their personalized internet desktop – basically their visual gateway to the internet.
To do so, users can arrange icons or pictures, which represent their links/bookmarks on so-called LinkClouds via drag & drop. We leave the whole LinkCloud structure ranging from the size and location of the icons to the number of icons and their location as well as the background to our users. Also the number of LinkClouds within one account is not limited. The links can easily be added by either using the plugin we offer for Chrome and Firefox or via the URL. Besides, we offer many different background options.
Users can share single links or whole LinkClouds with their friends, colleagues or the rest of the world (by either blogging the public link to a LinkCloud or embedding the cloud in their blog post). A group of registered users can even administer a LinkCloud together. Thanks to our VisualWeb technology behind myLinkCloud any change (e.g. enlargement of an icon) is instantly visible in any account window opened in Chrome or Firefox – no reload required.
myLinkCloud even offers the option to display your links in lists and users are free to choose whether they want them arranged alphabetically, depending on how often they click them or the time they added the links to their LinkCloud. Moreover, statistics help users to get rid of links they haven´t used in more than 28 days – but only if the users want to.
myLinkCloud is ad-free, stylish, fun to use and saves so much time when surfing the web. Did you know that the human brain recognizes pictures 60,000 times faster than text? That´s probably why Toni (The Founder) knows exactly where to find every single one of his more than 350 links on a single LinkCloud. In case people can´t remember where they put the icon they are looking for a filter helps them find the right link in no time.
Today, myLinkCloud is available in English, German and Spanish with more languages yet to come.
Here is a video that gives you an idea of what myLinkCloud is about
You might be better off simply trying myLinkCloud yourself (if you choose the test-it version not all our features will work). To register all you we need is a valid e-mail address and your freely chosen password. We consider myLinkCloud to be much better than iGoogle and thus would like to offer our service not only to anyone regularly surfing the web, but also to the more than 30 million sad iGoogle users as a beautiful alternative since iGoogle announced to close their service down by November 2013.
Uniqueness about our startup:- We would like to optimize our user´s internet experience. Our service is completely visual and stands out from the crowd thanks to our full-freedom-to-our-users-policy.
Founders detail with brief profile:- Dr. Toni Wagner (biologist) invented myLinkCloud to share links in his research group. He was fed up with telling his PhD students over and over again which services to use, which papers to read and so on (sending them the links via e-mail or Skype had failed already). Since Toni did not find what he was looking for when searching for a service to overcome this link sharing problem, he started programming myLinkCloud and invented the VisualWeb framework technology. Simon Schmitt is a media designer and front end programmer, who styled myLinkCloud. Claudia Leikam is responsible for social media, marketing and accountancy. The three have taken out to make the internet more “picturesque” and myLinkCloud the number one startpage. We are steadily implementing new features (RSS feeds, notes etc. to come this year) to make myLinkCloud even better and meet our customer’s needs.
Funding status:- We have just applied for a German startup fellowship program called “Flügge”. Other than that – we don´t have any money and are looking for investors.
