Shopping search engine – ShoppingWish, receives angel investment
ShoppingWish.in, a shopping search engine portal launched by Wishpoint Tech Pvt Ltd announced today that it received angel funding from Sandeep Johri and 4 other angel investors from New York and Silicon Valley. The amount of investment by the investors has not been disclosed. ShoppingWish founded in June 2012, helps users in discovering products sold across all online retailers and getting the best deal for them. As of today, Shoppingwish has more than 3.5 million listed products, including mobiles, cameras, books, computers, appliances and personal care categories. The funds raised in May will be employed for product development as well as marketing of its products.
The startup has enjoyed tremendous growth over the past few months. The user base for the price comparison site has grown in excess of 50 percent since December 2012. Currently the company is working with all top online shopping sites like Homeshop18, Croma, Flipkart, Snapdeal among 100+ other retailers. This Pune based startup provides an array of shopping tools such as price alerts, stock alerts and product reviews. The launch of mobile apps for Android and iOS users is scheduled for the next quarter. The company is also planning to gain entry into newer segments, including fashion and lifestyle, baby products and home furnishings categories. Price analysis, price trends and integrated coupon experience are some of the features easing the customer experience and this sets ShoppingWish apart from its competitors.
Currently ShoppingWish is competing with a few other players in this space including Amazon’s Junglee, MySmartPrice (backed by Accel and Helion). The startup makes revenue on the affiliate model via conversions. Unlike traditional retailers, ShoppingWish does not process the orders itself, but directs the customer to the merchant site once a product and seller is chosen.
ShoppingWish was founded by Sushil Choudhari & Madhur Khandelwal. Sushil Choudhari was in the past a cofounder of Dhingana, a leading social music streaming site. Madhur Khandelwal formerly worked with Microsoft and was a founding team member of TheFind.com, which is one of the largest shopping search engines in the US.
